Ned Doheny's 1988 classic 4th album Life After Romance, also his only work from the 80s, will be reissued in colour, and includes the classic 'Whatcha Gonna Do For Me?
Life After Romance, Ned Doheny's 1988 classic fourth album, is the follow-up to the classic Hard Candy (1976) and Prone (1979) and is also his only album from the 1980s. The most important thing to hear is the self-cover of the classic song 'Whatcha Gonna Do For Me?', familiar to Chaka Khan and the Average White Band, but there are also other songs from the title track, 'Love's A Heartache', 'Heartbreak In The Making', but the album is also packed with sweet, exhilarating, soulful, Ned-esque songs from ballads to uptempo, including the title track, 'Love's A Heartache' and 'Heartbreak In The Making'. The musicians involved are of course superb, including Jimmy Haslip, Abraham Laboriel, John Robinson, Gary Malabar and Timothy Schmidt. This is a delightful colour vinyl reissue of Ned's masterpiece, which is still being re-evaluated!
