Asia's Leading Indie Pop Star Phum Viphurit Releases Long-Awaited Second Album in Physical Form! Phum Viphurit, a Bangkok-based Thai singer/songwriter who has made a name for himself around the world with his hit song "Lover Boy," which has been streamed over 200 million times, has finally completed his long-awaited sophomore album. Since his first visit to Japan in 2018, he has toured Japan a total of five times and collaborated with STUTS, Nulbarich, Maki Nomiya, and SE SO NEON's So!YoON! It has been six years since their debut album "Manchild" and three and a half years since their EP "Bangkok Balter Club", which included the song "Lover Boy".The album title "Gren Jai" is a common word in Thailand, meaning mindfulness, care and concern for others ("Gren Jai Piece" means the last piece left on the plate). The theme of this aesthetic, which is like a universal unspoken rule, especially for those who grew up in Asia, was strongly influenced by the experience of the coronavirus pandemic, which caused a mental health crisis. His approach to music changed dramatically as a result of the pandemic. Unlike the first album, which was a diary of his own personal experiences, this album was created almost entirely by Phum himself, and is a collection of songs that are musically similar to the funk, soul, and indie rock of the first album, but with a more personal touch. Compared to their previous albums, which were a hybrid of funk, soul, and indie rock, this album has a much deeper feel, thanks to the abundance of arrangements and ideas, in addition to their own pop-ness.He intentionally uses traditional Thai instruments, incorporates elements of Thai music, and incorporates various Thai images into his artwork. He has collaborated with Japanese trackmaker/MPC player STUTS, with whom he has been in close contact since meeting on his first Japan tour in 2018, on "Kiko's Letter," and with Thai-American singer-songwriter Jay-Z's Roc Nation release, "Kiko's Letter," which was released on the Thai-American label.
