Ann Sally is Korean by ancestry. She was born and raised in Nagoya, Japan where she graduated from High school. She entered the medical college in Tokyo and came across the music of Bossa Nova. Besides becoming a cardiac internist she joined a music club activity at the college and started singing. Her favorite artists are Rickie Lee Jones, Elis Regina and Sam Cooke.
She recorded her debut album Voyage which included some of her favorite songs and other cover tunes which best suited hor soft and velvet voice. Supported by the jazz great Toots Thielemans, she experienced a wonderful collaboration in the recording studio of this album.
Her follow-up albums Moon Dance and Brand New Orleans further showcased her developing musical talents with songs sung in English, Portuguese as well as Japanese.
In January 2002, she moved to New Orleans to further her studies in cardiac medicine and gain greater exposure and experience in music. She returned to Japan from New Orleans in March 2005, married and gave birth to a daughter.
A very unusual but refreshing delivery, great voice control , good timing and and overall bouncy presentation…….. like they say in Japan konnichi wa good morning…… listening to this would be a good way to start your day!
