This is the first analog release of a rare live album by legendary tenor saxophonist Akira Miyazawa (1927-2000), one of Japan's foremost jazz musicians. Recorded in 1989, the album features a double commentary by Dr. Jazz's Osamu Uchida and leading jazz journalist Noriyoshi Koyama (written in 2002). The sound of the instruments is so clear that it could be mistaken for a studio recording. The members are Masahiko Kozu (drums), who made his debut with the Miyazawa Band and played with Ornette Coleman and Sarah Vaughan, and Harumi Takeuchi (piano) and Shunsuke Takeuchi (bass), who have been performing in Hamamatsu and elsewhere. The band performed a variety of tunes including "Green Dolphin Street," which began with a saxophone solo, Ellington's famous "In a Sentimental Mood," the original "Baby Seahorse," and "If Ever I Wood Leave You" from the musical "Camelot. The superb tenor saxophone tone is heard in all of the tunes.
