COAL MAN (SEKITANJIN), a jazz band that used to be active mainly in Iizuka City, a regional city in central Fukuoka Prefecture, released this fantastic album independently in 1977.
It is secretly known to avid collectors of self-produced albums for its good content, and the extremely small number of copies in circulation means that many people in the market want it.
The sobbing trumpet tone that seems to embody the melancholy feeling on the cover photo is intertwined with the crispy drumming sound that rumbles wildly as if it were digging coal, creating a jet-black jazz funk with a heavy and solid texture. The sophisticated grooves are simply overwhelming. The impressive melodies are also very attractive as a sampling source.
