City Jazz is a collection of re-imagined Japanese and Cantonese classics by supergroup 4te!. 4te! utilizes jazz fusion sonic styling and creative arrangements to breathe new life and wonder into these iconic tracks, making a release that is accessible to casual listeners and even the most discerning aficionado of the genre. The album is a testament to the skilled technical ability and creative prowess of its seasoned musicians and features standout tracks “Plastic Love”, “Hana”, “Tantalizing” and more. As KRIZ B (鮑比達) notes, “it’s always a big challenge and not as easy as it would seem, re-imagining these well-loved classics; my task is to spin it 180 degrees yet maintain the melody and the spirit of the song.” City Jazz will be released by evosound on the 23rd of September and will be available in 180g limited numbered violet sparkle colored 12” vinyl LP.
4te!’s name is a play on the word “forte,” which is the musical dynamic for loud or strong. The name is an apt representation of the tremendous talents of the seasoned musicians behind it. 4te! comprises musical director/producer/pianist KRIZ B (鮑比達), drummer Hang Tzu “Fish” Yu, guitarist Alan Kwan, and bassist Tsang Tak Hong. The group is best-known for crafting music in the pop-jazz fusion genre.
