This is the second album by Calvin Keyes, the signature guitarist of Black Jazz Records.
Sometimes aggressive, sometimes mellow, this is a miraculous piece of music where the highest level of groove with even more freedom creates the finest blackness. No wonder Pat Metheny wrote a song called "Calvin's Keys"!
Calvin Keyes is a jazz guitarist born in Omaha, Nebraska, who has played on the albums of his Black Jazz Records labelmates such as Doug Kern and Gene Russell. He is a highly acclaimed guitarist, as evidenced by the fact that Grammy winner Pat Metheny has released a song called "Calvin's Keys". The album opens with the title track "Proceed with Caution," a song that features Calvin Quise's quintessential, comfortable and intricate guitars, followed by M3 "Efflugence," with its fast-paced rhythms, technical guitars and Brazilian comfort, and M4 "Affection," with its blues-like structure that invites dancing. The title track "Proceed with Caution", M3 "Efflugence" with its fast-paced rhythm, technical guitars and Brazilian comfort, M4 "Aunt Lovey" with its blues-like structure that invites you to dance, and the last song "Night Cry" with its moody atmosphere reminiscent of a jazz cafe, all six songs have different colors, and Calvin Keyes' amazing guitar skills are on full display!
