Known for his signature guitar work in Flower Travellin’ Band, Hideki Ishima (also known for his later work as a sitarist) released this lone solo album in 1973, immediately following the band’s dissolution.
His floating, ethereal guitar tone weaves through a soundscape that blends psychedelic rock, acid folk, and introspective singer-songwriter stylings. A truly singular work in the history of Japanese rock.
Joining Ishima is an all-star cast of 1970s rock legends: fellow FTB member George Wada (drums), Chito Kawauchi and Nobuhiko Shinohara (both of Trans Am), and Katsuo Ohno of PYG. Their performances elevate this already deeply personal work into an essential artifact of Japan’s New Rock era.
