Three years on from the band's acclaimed ‘Grateful End’ album, and following up last year's reissue of their live release ‘Psychedelic Scum Freaks’. Taipei's underground psych monsters Dope Purple return with their new album proper, ‘This Is The Harsh Trip For New Psyche’.
The album is co-released again by Riot Season & WV Sorcerer Productions and is available on three vinyl variants, and also digitally.
The album, it's a mixture of harsh noise and psych rock, the noise element being well recorded and presented so we can hear many details, and blends perfectly with the other instruments in all frequencies. The whole album moves between a spectral sadness and insanity, each track takes a rather different direction, recognising the influence of classic Japanese bands such as High Rise, Mainliner, and Les Rallizes Dénudés.
The album is a collaboration with Berserk, a young underground pioneer from the Taipei scene, and has been performing chaotic frequency manipulation and carefully textured post-apocalyptic soundscape since 2015.
The cover features hand-drawn artwork by Japanese artist 柏木辿 Ten Kashiwagi, and the mixing/mastering was taken care of once again by 濁朗 Darklaw from Japan, perfectly capturing the aesthetic and technical aspects of the recording.
距離首張正式專輯《Grateful End》已經過去了四年多，台北噪音迷幻怪獸 Dope Purple蘇醒回歸，帶來他們的最新專輯《This is the Harsh Trip for New Psyche》。
本專輯再次由WV Sorcerer巫唱片和英國Riot Season（Acid Mothers Temple、Mainliner、Hibushibire 秘部痺れ）聯合發行。
專輯錄音特邀台北地下先鋒音樂人Berserk（徐嘉駿）加盟，是迷幻搖滾和Harsh Noise的巔峰融合之作，雖然樂隊追求大音量與極致混亂的音效，但是值得一提的是，噪音部分在這張專輯中被非常細緻的記錄和呈現，各頻率細節十分清晰，並與其它樂器完美融合。伴隨Dope Purple標誌性的音樂編排，整張專輯在一種怪異的憂傷和瘋狂之間遊走。同時，每首曲目也有相當不同的走向，可以辨別出日本經典樂隊（如High Rise、Mainliner 和 Les Rallizes Dénudés）的潛移默化的影響。
封面特別邀請到日本藝術家柏木辿（Ten Kashiwagi），為專輯創作了手繪作品。混音和母帶則仍然由日本聲音工程師濁朗Darklaw操刀，從音樂美學和聲響技術層面都完美呈現了這份同期錄音。
