An integral member of the Dogear Records roster, and a member of both MONJU and SICK TEAM units, ISSUGI is a rapper who has been involved in a number of projects in his native Tokyo, and is also known as part of the duo “BES & ISSUGI”. For this record he is teaming up with DJ SHOE, an active presence in the city of Fukuoka to the southern Kyushu island of Japan. Beatmaker 16FLIP contributes with a remix of ISSUGI’s work and there’s also an exclusive freestyle mix.
ISSUGI first broke out as a solo-artist under the moniker of “ISSUGI FROM MONJU” when he released the album Thursday, and from early on he had identified DJ SHOE as a key collaborator despite both operating on opposite sides of the country.
For the exclusive freestyle mix, ISSUGI teamed up with New York producer Gwop Sullivan who together have been having sessions for a number of years. He also enlists his long-term collaborator, Japanese producer Gradis Nice, who like Sullivan contributes from the far shores of New York. DJ GQ boosts the presence of Fukuoka talent by contributing a track and an appearance on the freestyle mix.
