World Standard is a stylish pop unit that incorporates a wide range of music from rock, techno to ambient.Their memorable first album, which debuted in 1985 on the Teichiku Non-Standard label produced by Haruomi Hosono,
will be remastered and reissued under the supervision of Soichiro Suzuki!
This is the second analogue release by Warsta, whose LP "Asagao" (released in September 2020 by conatala record), a collection of world standard demos, has been well received and is now attracting attention from around the world.
Soichiro Suzuki
Born in Hamamatsu in 1959. Musician. In 1983, he formed the instrumental pop group World Standard, which debuted on the Non-Standard label, produced by Haruomi Hosono.
His "Discover America Trilogy" was highly praised by David Byrne and Van Dyke Parks. In recent years, he has produced many artists including Cheng Bee, Asako Nanju, Hanaregumi, Beautiful Hummingbird, Yoshie Nakano, Shione Yukawa, and Wool and Ohana.
He is also a prolific writer and author, and his book "Mondo Music," published in 1995, sparked the lounge boom. He has co-authored two books with Haruomi Hosono: "The Clock Has Begun to Move Again" (Heibonsha) and "Haruomi Hosono: The Art of Recording: This Is How We've Been Creating Sound" (DU Books). His Beatles-related works include "McCartney Music - Paul. Music. All About It. (Ongaku Shuppansha). A CD book created by a musician who suffered from tinnitus" (DU Books).
On November 28, 2020, he will release his 12th full-length album, "Color Music" (CD 3,500yen + tax / Stella), his first album in 10 years for World Standard. This will be the culmination of Soichiro Suzuki's 35th anniversary as a debut artist, and his first vocal album!
