This is HITOMITOI's first original work since July 2017. One of the significant changes in her career over the past eight years has been her growing international connections. With the rise of streaming services, Japanese pop music has crossed oceans, and HITOMOTOI’s music has also been “discovered” overseas. She has gained a large following in North America, collaborated with prominent Thai artists, and successfully toured China. Naturally, foreign artists have participated in her new work.
The lead single, “Like A First Kiss,” features a collaboration with Jack Tatum of Wild Nothing from Virginia, USA. Mexican pop band Juanpalitoschinos, who have a deep admiration for Japanese pop music, contributed a track, and Los Retros, from the indie label “Stones Throw” on the West Coast of the United States, is also involved. From Japan, friends and collaborators like Dorian, as well as talents such as Kengo Kakudate of Yogee New Waves, Shohei Takagi of cero, and the up-and-coming female trackmaker Chocoholic, are working together with HITOMITOI.
The sound travels like waves, crossing time and sea. Music that communicates like telepathy, resonating together, has come together as one unified work, infused with mutual respect.
