Makoto Kubota has remastered the album RHYTHM ROMANCE that was originally released as a 10-inch LP in 1981. The source of this album is the original master open-reel tape.
This album allows listeners to listen to the musical roots of MAKOTO KUBOTA & THE SUNSET GANG, with song such as a southern blues rock Boogie Flu that was written for Kiyoshiro Imawano, a rock&roll number Walking In The moonlight, and New Orleans second line instrumental numbers such as Rhythm Romance and Nopperabo. In addition, the song I’m Gonna Get You Yet which was created by guitarist Earl King Johnson with Sandii on the vocal, and Yes Tonight which has a beautiful Hawaiian guitar tune is also included. About MAKOTO KUBOTA & THE SUNSET GANG
Lead by MAKOTO KUBOTA, the band was formed in 1972. After the release of the solo album Machibouke in 1973, they released their debut album Sunset Gang in 1974. They were among the first to incorporate music and sounds from the islands of Okinawa and Hawaii, releasing the masterpiece album Hawaii Champroo in 1975. In 1980, the band renamed themselves as THE SUNSETS, and made a worldwide debut. He absorbs blues, Japanese folk, and even the second line beats of New Orleans, and creates his own unique earthy sounds. MAKOTO KUBOTA & THE SUNSET GANG is the most important band in the Japanese rock scene of the 1970s.
