Japanese 12" Vinyl Limited Edition Release Date: 8/7/2026 Label: Sailyard
Description
Since transitioning into a solo unit in December 2020, Pictured Resort has continued to release music consistently. This latest work is a 6-track EP, arriving about two years after their previous 4th full-length album "Overdreamt."
Having passed the major milestone of their 10th anniversary, what Pictured Resort delivers next is a deeply personal narrative that explores his inner world. The EP is titled "Epiphyllum Oxypetalum," the scientific name of the night-blooming flower that blossoms only once. Reflecting memories of childhood and family, this title symbolizes a clear departure from his previously bright and open sound, instead channeling a sense of fluctuation—akin to a personal midlife crisis—into a dense, intimate sonic space.
The pre-release singles "Pleasure Center" and "First Million Miles" (2025) showcase a refined, introspective R&B groove paired with smooth, immersive beats. The lead track "Once in a Blue Moon" stands as a defining piece of the EP, capturing shifting human relationships and self-reflection. Its fleeting yet beautiful melody resonates with the artwork of Epiphyllum Oxypetalum illustrated by Natsumi Kachina, drawing listeners into a deep, contemplative journey.
Marking a vivid departure from his previously refreshing image, this release unveils a new artistic dimension and stands as an important and beautiful turning point in Pictured Resort’s musical evolution.
